                           Heathcliff and Heraton

The land of Yorkshire is a barren, and the climate is bad, especially in winter the sky is always cloudy and the pressure is low.   People who live there is more emotional, and their love and hate are apparently opposite.   Emily was originally an Irish, however the life in Yorkshire impacted her a lot.   In Wuthering Heights the two chracters, Heathcliff and Hareton, inherited both Irish and Yorkshire characteristics.

Heathcliff, he was picked up by Mr. Earnshaw in the streets of Liverpool.   Nobody liked him, and Mr. Earnshaw was an exception in Wuthering Heights. However, Catherine and he became good friends because of their close age. He was a man who dared to love and hate.   He had many characteristics, such as blunt, practical, stubborn, vigorous, and harsh.
Examples:
1. Blunt:
"Nelly said 'my pinches moved him only to draw in a breath and open his eyes, as if he had hurt himself by accident and nobody was to blame.'"
2. Practical:
"Heathcliff said ' But, Nelly, if I knocked him down twenty times, that wouldn't make him less handsome, or me more so. I wish I had light hair and a fair skin, and was dressed and behaved as well, and had a chance of being as rich as he will be!'
Heathcliff said 'Oh, Cathy! Oh, my life! how can  I bear it?'   This was the first sentence he uttered
in a tone that did not seek to disguise his despair."
3. Stubborn:
"Lockwood said 'A rough fellow, rather, Mrs.Dean. is not that his character?'
Nelly said 'Rough as a saw-edge, and hard as whinstone!'
Nelly said 'he was as uncomplaining as a lamb; though hardness, not gentleness, made him give little trouble."
4. Vigorous:
Nelly said' I was amazed, more than over, to behold the transformation of Heathcliff. He had grown
a tall, athletic well-formed man'

5.  Harsh:
Edgar ventured this remark without any intention
To insult; but Heathcliff's violent nature was not prepared to endure the appearance of impertinence from one whom he seemed hate, even then , as a rival. He seized a tureen of hot apple- sauce, the first thing that came under his gripe, and dashed it full against the speaker's face and neck.

Hareton, he was Hindly's son, but he didn't like  Hindly. Hindly didn't take care of Hareton, so Hareton was influnced by Heathcliff. He was harsh and blunt.
Example:
1. Blunt:
"Mr. Hareton recoiled, looking as foolish as he
could do; he sat down in the settle, very quiet.
' I'd forgotten they were Joseph's' answered Hareton, rather puzzled,' but I'll tell him I did it.'"
2. Harsh:
"'You'd better hold your tongue, now!' he answered fiercely.".
3. Stubborn:
"Hareton afterwards gathered the books and hurled them on the fire."
4. Vigorous:
In Nelly's opinion, Hareton was a well-made, athletic youth, good looking in features, and stout and healthy, but attired in garments befitting his daily occupations of working on the farm, and lounging among the moors after rabbits and game.
