A stranger is a stranger, be he rich or poor- it will not suit me to permit anyone the range of the place while I am off guard! said the unmannerly wretch."  (chapter 2-page 14)

Analysis:
Emily is very unsociable and shy for her isolation from outside world in her childhood.  She had no experience about socialization and was always reticent.  Nevertheless, she was outwardly undemonstrative but inwardly passionate.  Emily transformed her suppressed passion into such a powerful novel.  When a novelist wants to describe a role deeply, the role always has to be a part of experience in his life.  The background that Emily created for her characters was so miserable, Heathcliff’being bullied maybe a parallel of Emily's being restrained by society. (need to be sociable and ceremonial)  Heathcliff’s revenge also may symbolize that Emily's wildness against the society. We can say that the roles in Wuthering Heights are the embodiments of Emily's spirit, same unsociable and same introversive.
