Transport
Buses
Public buses are one of the most important means of transportation in Taipei, with up to 200 routes stretching throughout the city. They run every 5-10 minutes and operate on an express lane grid system, making transfers easy. Ten special routes run on national holidays and two-day weekends (every 2nd and 4th week of the month). There are also 20 minibus routes supplementing the main services. (For details see the Taipei City Bus Route Manual) Map of Routes
Railway
The
rail system is one of the most important means of transportation in Taiwan, with
the main routes running along the east and west coasts of the island. In Taipei,
rail lines have been moved underground to alleviate traffic congestion.
There are several classes of train, including standard, Pingkuai, Fuhsing,
Chukuang, and Tzuchiang (express). Trains can be boarded at
the Wanhua, Taipei, and Sungshan stations.
