I agree with Stacy's point of view that women should learn to appreciate and respect our bodies. Although there are lots of arguments among feminists, I believe that this is the main idea that they are trying to say.
At the first time we talked about feminism in the class and we saw videotape, which was about women, tend to be looked at. Frankly speaking, I never thought of this before. I once wondering why women have to put on makeup but men don't have to. After having this course about feminism, I found the answer. It's because women want to be attractive and also be looked at. Although some cosmetics companies promote their products by saying that women put on makeup just for ourselves, I still donˇ¦t want to buy the story. How come men donˇ¦t have to do the same and attract women? Men might defend themselves by saying that they donˇ¦t put on makeup to attract women but they need to strengthen their muscles. This phenomenon reflects these fixed thoughts in our mind that men are strong and women are weak and soft. However, these fixed thoughts are gradually changing, since in our society we have more and more ˇ§good new menˇ¨. I am glad to see that.
