Hi, Tina,

Your analysis of the poem is a good one. The question about the identity of
the "you" is also interesting. For me, the "you" refers to the secular lover,
the one who speaks in parenthesis, and nobody else.

What would you make of the poem if it were the Holy Son?

This poem, by the way, best illustrates the closeness of the poet to his woman.
Remember (I don't have the poem with me here) he has stanzas about
how close the woman (her hair, breath) is over him?

There are several poems on the "non-human" existence of humans in heaven.
This one,I think, is symptomatically focused on the male lover/speaker.
