Regulations Governing the Admission of Foreign Students

Article I.

The regulations are formulated according to Fu Jen Catholic University Regulations Governing the Recruitment of Foreign Students.

Article II.

Foreign students should meet the qualifications set out in Articles II and III of Fu Jenˇ¦s Regulations Governing the Recruitment of Foreign Students.

Article III.

Foreign students applying for admission to Fu Jen Catholic University shall submit their applications to the Office of Studies from February 1 to April 30 every year, accompanied by the documents listed below:

  1. application for enrollment;

  2. a photocopy of the graduation certificate from the highest foreign educational institution completed, and a notarized translation in Chinese or English;

  3. an English translation of the transcript of the student's entire course work at that institution;

  4. two letters of recommendation (including one letter from the teacher teaching Chinese);

  5. a health certificate (including an HIV test);

  6. a study plan in Chinese (application to Ph.D. program should include the Chinese abstract of MA thesis);

  7. proof of financial sufficiency (proof of sufficient funds for studying in the ROC);

  8. materials are required by English Department:

    1. Study plan in English: briefly explain your motivation.

    2. English transcripts from previous colleges or universities.

    3. If possible, provide one of the following documents:
      (1) English term papers written when the applicants were studying as
           undergraduates. Papers with teachers' comments or signature are
           preferred.
      (2) Transcript of an English Proficiency test:
            TOFEL score: 600
            TOFEL-CBT score: 230
            TOFEL-iBT score: 100
            IELTS score: 7.0
      (3) Literature Track: English transcripts showing your completion of at   
            least 3 courses related to English Literature during undergraduate
            studies, or other documents in English proving your proficiency in 
            and  knowledge of English Literature.
      (4) Multimedia English Teaching: English transcripts showing your
            completion of at least 2 course related to Linguistics and/or TESL
            during undergraduate studies, or other documents in English
            proving your knowledge and/or experience of teaching English.
    4. Applicant will be notified of the time and place of the English written exam and English oral interview (in person, by phone, or computer-mediated communication) after the deadline of registration.  Please leave local phone number and e-mail account to ensure you can be reached during the daytime;

    5. All Department courses are taught in English.  Applicant should have English ability in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. And

  9. application fee.

Article IV.

The application of foreign students should be followed by these regulations, other relevant regulations from Fu Jen and MOE.

Regulations can only be executed after passed and amended by MA Faculty Meeting.
