Regulations Governing the Admission of Overseas Chinese Students

Passed by MA Faculty Meeting, Fall 2004 on December 1, 2004

Article I.

Foreign students should have the qualifications requested by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission, R.O.C.

Article II.

Foreign students applying for admission to MA program, English Department shall submit their applications to the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission at the requested  period, accompanied by the documents listed below:¡@

  1. application for enrollment; please download it from the webiste of Entrance Committee For Overseas Chinese Student.

  2. local residence certificate (such as the photocopy of Personal ID card or passport);

  3. a photocopy of the graduation certificate from the highest foreign educational institution completed, and a notarized translation in Chinese or English; an English translation of the transcript of the student's entire course work at that institution;

  4. two letters of recommendation;

  5. materials are required by English Department:

    1. A study plan in English: statement of purpose, in essay form;

    2. A previous paper; (preferably with teacher¡¦s comments, and/or signature.)

    3. Language Proficiency Test score: such as CBT TOEFL 250, TOEFL 600, IELTS 7.0.

Article III.

Admission of Oversea Chinese students is in principle based on the materials listed above; if necessary, the English department will request an exam.

Regulations can only be executed after passed and amended by MA Faculty Meeting.
