However, if the readers read the novel carefully, it is not hard to find out in Taso Hseuh-chin's mind, whom Bao-yu should marry is Dai-yu but not Bao-chai. In The Sun Also Rises, many critics conclude that the narrator, Jake Barnes is Hemingway's hero. However, they neglect the character, Romero, the bullfighter who appears at the last part of the novel. Comparing Jake and Romero, this paper will prove that Romero is the true hero rather than Jake. 48. Chang, Andy (E) "Romanization in Taiwan." Romanization is a necessity for non-Roman-alphabet-language countries to facilitate a better communication between non-Roman language countries and other countries, to make foreigners either to understand transliteration of names, or even to pronounce the character. Recently, Tong yong pin yin (通用拼音) and Han yu pin yin (漢語拼音) are the two choices that Taiwan has to choose as its official romanization system. Comparing these two systems, I find out that Hanyu Pinyin has more advantages than Tongyong Pinyin. Hanyu Pinyin is not only more familiar and more internationally used in the world, but it also is more accurate in its structure of conversion, and has more sources, which use it as their transliteration system, such as textbooks or dictionaries, than Tong yong Pin yin. Therefore I strongly recommend Hanyu Pinyin to become Taiwan's official romanization system. (PowerPoint)
