Daffodils

It is a poem of Birthday Letters that Ted Hughes wrote after his first wife, Sylvia Plath¡¦s death. Hughes reveals a wide range of emotions: moments of passion, tenderness, and confusion. In this poem, Hughes describes the early years when the couple was poor, hopeful, and unsuspecting of the future. They sold the daffodils to earn their livings. At that time, they did not know what they really want, and they had no idea with their possession.
