Dear class,

We're now finally entering the exciting and long-expected asynchronous unit. Hope you'll benefit from the materials that your teacher and classmates contribute in the following weeks. You all will be kept posted about changes in the website and reminder for assignments, etc. Please check your emails often and let me know if there's any problem or question.

Journals:

By May 23, you're supposed to complete the following assignment:
You either post 2-page responses to (1) Chris's report, (2) the essay Marc presented, OR (3) one of the journal responses posted.
You need to do this in EngSite, so if you haven't registered, do it now!

Online discussion <Part I>:

On May 26, we're going to use the original class time (1:30pm-3:00pm) to have a virtual meeting! Hold your breath, because it's going to be fun. Please read the play, Midsummer Night's Dream, and relevant materials before class. Your teacher, Ray, will meet you online and chat with the whole class via MSN messenger. You can do it at home, in the computer lab at school, or even in an internet cafe as long as you're online. Now, here comes the instruction from me about how to install MSN messenger so that you can have online discussion. (For those who already have an account or known what to do, you may skip the following paragraph.)

First, you need to download the program, MSN messenger. You may get it from Toget or MSN.com. Either before or after you install the software, you need to apply for a Hotmail account (do it by following the procedure here or here), witch can be uses as not only email but also your chatting account. If you already have an existing hotmail account, you can use it directly. Then, once the hotmail account is settled and MSN messenger is installed, get online and login. Try to familiarize yourself with MSN messenger's features and be prepared to chat by using it. It should be very simple and easy. Don't be afraid to try and you know you're always welcome to ask for my help.

To have an inspring discussion and in-depth analysis, come prepared and type fast! See you in the cyber classroom.

P.S. You may email me to get Ray's account.

Enjoy!

Assistant, Gretchen
