Throughout
the American literary history, it has already went through several
literary movements, including post colonial literature, Calvinism,
Puritanism, Transcendentalism, Romanticism as well as slave
narrative development prior to the Civil War.
Upon
the entrance of the modern era, after the Civil War, American literary
writers started to develop more and more diverse styles of writing,
creating literary movements like adding more local color to their work,
which is regionalism, adding Southern humor to their work embedded with
naturalism, which could be found in Mark Twain's works. In addition, as
writers enter the 20th and 21st century, more diverse, different styles of
multi-culture could be as well seen through new generations of America,
throughout modernism and post-modernism within their writing and
other aspects of arts, such as photography, painting and also music.
