“Strategy for Virtual Game Title Screen Translation”

Virtual games as the trend of globalization progresses forward have become a promising industry in which the manufacturers have a worldwide variety of target audiences. Localizing product content is therefore significant because it connects the consumers with foreign products, thus generating more potential profit. This research paper aims to develop, with the employment of questionnaires that obtain 60 Taiwanese game players’ demographic information and their language preferences of game title screen translations, an appropriate translation strategy for converting game starting menus with English content into Traditional Chinese. Following the methodology and pre-settled objectives, the result of Taiwanese players’ choices between literal and free translation has indicated the fact that meaning-based translation (i.e., free translation) for game title screen qualifies for the research aim.

Breaking the Rules, Women Should Be Active in Relationship

The traditional social norm suggests that men pursuing women is a rule, while women pursuing men is an exception. Such notion has significantly influenced the way males and females initiate romantic relationships. However, despite the current research indicating that a majority of women in this written rule, this report will point out four reasons why women should take the initiative instead of waiting to be approached. The reasons are the rise of women’s social right, women’s choices to potential romantic partners, the increasing number of herbivore men and men’s inability to resist women’s pursuit. As for the first-handed supporting details, a questionnaire of multiple questions is applied to this research. These findings are shown in the paper to support the purpose of this report; that is, to encourage and motivate females to be active in initiating romantic relationships.

“Sanrio Fantasy: A Company Filled with Hopes, Dreams and Love”

People other than fans might think Sanrio is just one of those companies that sell over-priced products in order to earn money. Nevertheless, the fact is that the products made by Sanrio, are not only characterized, but also filled with hopes, dreams and love. The reason why I am doing this research is that I myself is a big fan of Sanrio, and often I find people saying that their products are quite high-priced and not worth buying. By delving into its historical background and development, I will argue that Sanrio, besides earning profits, also brings hopes and dreams to the consumers with characterized products.

“Culture Representation through Media.”

My research paper focuses on culture representation through media. Since Japanese culture has been prosperous in Taiwan, this research aims to investigate culture representation in media and how people may be influenced by such representation that after media’s representation. This research examines to what degree audience of Japanese TV series and films can gain correct notions or knowledge about Japanese culture by comparing the view of Taiwanese students and Japanese exchange students in Taiwan. Questionnaires are administrated to both Taiwanese students who are interested in Japanese culture and Japanese exchange students in Taiwan. This research is hoped to allow Taiwanese students to build sensitivity to understand an unknown culture, thus enhances interaction between Taiwanese and Japanese culture.
