Some Words from
Cast and Staff
Joyce Tai (Administration
Supervisor)
It's been a great honor working
with such devoted and wonderful people together. My appreciation
goes to everyone involved in this project. Hope we will be remembered
through years.
Gloria Hsu
(Stage Manager)
Frankly speaking, it is not easy
to be a stage manager. A stage manager has to deal with all kinds
of problems. However, it is a great challenge for me. I must
say "Thank you" to Ms. Cecilia Liu and my dear classmates for giving me
the chance to learn how to produce a play.
I am moved to see the improvement
of the cast from the rehearsals. They really spent a lot of time
on the play. In addition, I sincerely appreciate the efforts the
backstage crew have made. Without them, the play can't be presented
in front of you today. When you are enjoying the play, please don't
forget to give them
applause.
Anyway, at the end of the year,
please relax yourself and enjoy the "impossible farce"!!
Tina Nai-Hui
Pan (Student Director)
As s6ance for all of us! An
"impossible play"-an impossible rehearsal. It's the last opportunity
to get to know the world we are in now-in this case, my classmates, the
teachers, the classrooms, the theater, and the campus. Through rehearsing
this play full of spirit, more of the "impossible" leaks into our daily
experience. Congratulations to all of us-the English Department graduating
class of 1998!
Joanne Hsieh
(Edith)
"I have done nothing wrong!" Why
torture me with all these?! Just kidding! I love working with
all of the people who are participating in the play. This will be
one of the most exciting and wonderful memories in my college life.
Blinda Ma (Elvira)
"I don't believe you love me anymore."
Am I such a jealous but charming woman in my real life? Maybe, what
do you think? After several years, I am glad that now I have a chance
to get on stage again. Frankly speaking, it isif t cold but interesting
being a ghost.
Julia Hsieh
(Madame Arcati)
The role of Madame Arcati is really
a great challenge for me. As a result, I have spent endless hours
studying this character. In a profound way, her motto, as mentioned
in the play, has a great impact on me. "Chin up-never give in-that's
my motto," says Madame Arcati. The role inspires me and instills
in me a new strength and belief
Sean Yeh (Dr.
Bradman)
I'm the kind who is apt to neglect
the many supernatural phenomena around me-just like Dr. Bradman the die-hard.
Somehow I seemed to see a chair floating before my eyes without Elvira's
holding it during one of the rehearsals!! Yes, you will, too, see
a lot of the unseen in Blithe Spirit. Give up your stereotype and get spooked
by-the unknown.
Thanks to Ms. Cecilia Liu.
Kevin Chen
(Charles Condomine)
I used to be ravenous for being
an acting virtuoso. But now I'd rather be a theatrical evangelist.
I want everyone to know how interesting theater can be.
I never believe in anything spooky.
I did not have a chance to think about "the other world" until participating
in this play. If there is one, I hope it's a happy one. Dedicate
this play to my dear father, who may be watching me "over there".
I must thank my dear family and
friends for being my backbone.
Nancy Lin
(Mrs. Bradman)
"I wish the men would hurry up,
I'm terribly excited...," I figure Mrs. Bradman's line properly interprets
my feeling right now. Great to see so many classmates work together
as a team for our upcoming senior play. "I shall never forget it"
(Ha, another line from Mrs. Bradman again, I just can't get rid of it),
because I'm sure it'll be the best gift for our graduation. Now,
we're ready to go for it, are you? Enjoy the play!!
Eliza Lin
(Ruth Condomine)
"Bright side indeed! If your
husband's first wife suddenly appeared fro I m the grave and came to live
in the house with you, do you suppose you'd be able to look on the bright
side?" To tell you the truth, I can't even think about it. But I
must experience it again and again through the rehearsals of the senior
play. Although this experience is nearly a torture for me, I don't
regret to get involved in this production. After all, to be on stage
is a dream for me, and I'm so glad that I can finally realize my dream
in my college life. Thanks to all the teachers, friends, and classmates
I've worked with. Owing to you, Blithe Spirit can really be something
fantastic!
