The Comedy of Error

Note From the Dramaturg

Although an early play, the Comedy of Errors reveals several themes that Shakespear will continue to develop through his career:  the relationship between the classical unities and the mysteries of romance (which we see as late as the Tempest),  the loss and comic recovery.  Defying probability by doubling the twins of its Plautine souce, shakespeare's play asks from its audience acceptance in reaffirming the theatricality of human reality.
