I hope that the Year of the Dog is a good and productive time for your English writing and speaking. This semester we will continue to build your confidence and competence in speaking and writing clear, concise, and well organized English essays. As we practiced last semester, you will be required to participate in classroom discussions, make oral presentations, write multiple drafts of assigned compositions, keep journals, do self-study through MY Access, complete in-class mid-term examination, and participate in the Junior Research Paper Convention. The modes we are doing are

• Application Portfolio;
• Problem-Solving paper;
• Research paper;
• Revision + Self-Study through MY Access.

We will still use journals (one entry a week in principle; some with assigned topics) to write and communicate spontaneously. At the same time, we will have:

• Formal presentation: training your self-presentation and social skills;
• Fun ones: observing and analyzing social or cultural phenomena;
• 'E-group discussion' (as part of e-journals) to share our opinions online and prepare for our future. (Please go to E-Office )
• Most importantly, we will start to be automatic learners with more social awareness!
