Journal entries (on Weblogs)

You will turn in 7 sets of journals this semester (two weeks per set). The basic requirement is 1.5 to 2 pages double space per week. To fulfill this journal activity grade, you need to use Weblog to record your entries. You may also put your brainstorming and writing processes for your junior research paper outlines as part of the journals throughout the whole semester. On the second week, we will setup the weblog account in class together.

Composition and Conversation topics

(1) Your Descriptive narrative paper can be based on interview, but not compulsorily. The content of your paper should differ from your other group members if you all chose to write on the same topic.

(2) The Cross-section Social Observation Analysis (SOA) Presentation on 12/2 (Tuesday) and 12/5 (Friday)
a) Topic due: 10/3 (Friday)
b) Proposal due: 10/21 Proposal includes: title, working thesis, working hypotheses, methodologies (include background information, research resources, observation interview, and argument--but not necessarily original argument, though). Students should know some interview etiquettes beforehand.
Around 4 groups (4-5 people) in each section and each group will give 40 minutes of presentation + 10 minutes of Q&A.
