A.  Will, Can, Could, Could皆可用以表示”要求他人”. Will, Can做較隨性的要求; Could, Would則為較有禮貌的要求.. 我們甚至加please以表示禮貌.

Will you buy me a loaf of bread?

Can you shut the windows?

Could you arrange a meeting for next week?

“Could you please turn down the TV?” “All right, I will.”*

“Would you deliver this to the manager, please?” “Certainly.”*

 *注意!答案不是”Yes, I would/could.”

B.   Would you mind 的用法:

1)句型: Would you mind + V-ing (毋須加please)à以表達一項有禮貌的要求:

Ellen: “Would you mind having a late lunch tomorrow? I won’t be out of the meeting till 1:30pm.”

Jess: (若可行) “Not at all.”; “Certainly.”; “Sure, meet you then.”

(若沒辦法) “I’m sorry, I can’t. I need to be at the dentist at 2pm.”
