Dear graduate students,
In this memo I would
like to inform you of the financial aid opportunities which are available for first and
second-year MA students, according to university and government regulations. Attached you will find the relevant regulations of
the SVD Section of Fu Jen University, to which our department belongs, and of the English
Department.
There are three types of
aid for which you may apply through the department: a Scholarship (exemption from tuition
and fees), Fellowship for NT$10,000/month, and Fellowships for NT$5,000/month. Each requires a certain amount of work for the
department or university:
Scholarship: 8 hours/week; NT$10,000/month Fellowship: 10 hours/week; NT$5,000/month Fellowship: 5
hours/week. (These work requirements are set according to a decision of the SVD
Administrative Council.) The department is required to assign two students who receive
financial aid to wok for the SVD Section.
Please see the English
Department regulations for an explanation of the basis on which financial aid of each type
is awarded. According to the SVD regulations, this semester we will be able to award one
(1) Scholarship, one (1) Fellowship for NT$10,000/month, and twelve (12) fellowships for
NT$5,000/month. When you apply, please be sure to indicate which type(s) you wish to be
considered for. You may be considered for more than one type.
The deadline for
applications is soon, September
25. Please submit applications to
the secretary, Judy Peng. The department committee will announce the results by September 30,
subject to approval by the university's Scholarship and Fellowship Committee.
