Mineral  A mineral is a substance such as tin, salts,  uranium, or sulfur that is formed naturally in rocks and in the earth. 
Bathrobe A bathrobe is a loose piece of clothing made of toweling which you wear before or after a bath.
Ladle A ladle is a large, round, deep spoon with long handle, used for serving soup or stew. 
Fahrenheit  It is a scale for measuring temperature, in which water freezes at 32 degrees and boils at 212 degrees. 
Celsius   It is a scale for measuring temperature, in which water freezes at 0 degree and boils at 100 degrees. 
Steam Steam is the hot mist that forms when water boils. 
Sulphur Spelled sulfur in American English. Sulfur is a yellow chemical which has a strong smell. 
Scorch To scorch something means to burn it slightly.

Gout  Gout is a disease which causes people's joints to swell painfully, especially in their toes.

Metabolism  Your metabolism is the way that chemical processes in your body cause food to be used in an efficient way, for example to make new cells and to give you energy.  Metabolic means relating to a person's or animal's metabolism; a technical term in biology. 
Terrain  It is used to refer to an area of land or a type of land when you are considering its physical features. 
Porous  Something that is porous ahs many small holes in it, which water and air can pass through. 
Stratum  Any of a series of horizontal layers, especially of rock in the earth's crust.  The strata in the earth's crust are the different layers of rock; a technical term. 
Seismic  seismic means caused by or relating to an earthquake.

Some Terminology to know more about Vampires:
Anarch («qÅÜ­º»â): A young vampire who is not  happy with the current  "ossified??" vampire society. 
Baali: A minor bloodline of demon-worshiping vampires.  Despised by the Camarilla and  the Sabbat alike
Becoming :The process of turning from  human to a vampire. Usually, it involves draining a human of blood to the point of death, and then giving the human  some of the vampire's blood to drink.  In the World of  Darkness, feeding vampire blood to a human without first draining them will create a ghoul. 
Blood Bond: When a human or a vampire drinks another vampire's blood for 3 times, then the vampire whose blood was taken has a certain power over the recipient. The recipient  will do whatever donor says, whether they want to or not,  even to the point of endangering their own life. 
Blooded Vampire: A vampire,which has fed on human blood,gave them limited immortality and some enhanced physical and magical powers. They may not create new vampires.
Caine: The brother of Abel, cursed by God to became the first vampire. 
Caitiff (¨õ¦H): A vampire, who was looked down upon in the society, has not been raised with a clan. 
Camarilla(¯µ±KÅU°Ý¹Î): A sect of seven clans; Bruja, Gangrel, Malkavian, Nosferatu, Toreador, Tremere and Ventrue. They promote quiet co-existence with  mortals, and maintain the Masquerade. 
Cappadocian: A virtually extinct clan of vampires. They were hunted down and subsumed into Clan Giovanni.
Changeling (³Q·t¤¤°½´«¹L¯d¤UªºÀ¦«Ä): Another group of supernatural creatures that share the World of Darkness with the vampires. Changelings are half-fey creatures that replace human children who are taken to Faerie. 
Childe (¶Q¤½¤l): A young, inexperienced vampire, often under the control of his or her sire.  Plural: childer
Clan (©v±Ú): The bloodline that a vampire belongs to. Each clan has a special weakness, special disciplines, and a semi-mythical founder.
Dark Kiss: The act of converting a human into a vampire. 
Dark Trick: Another name for the Dark Kiss. 
Diablerie (Å]°­¦æ¬°): Vampiric cannibalism. In destroying another vampire simply drain his blood completely. The cannibal thus gains some of the murdered vampire's power.
Embrace: The act of converting a mortal into a vampire.
Father in Darkness: The individual who embraced a vampire.  See also Sire. 
Fledgling(¥Xªì­TÃf): An immature, foolish vampire. 
Followers of Set: A clan of vampires whose ultimate goal is the corruption of all humans and vampires. 
Gangrel: Beast like clan of vampires, belonging to the Camarilla.
Generation: A measure of a vampire's strength. The higher a  vampire's generation, the further removed they are from Caine, and the more diluted their blood is, so they can achieve less in magical power and vampire society. 
Ghoul (µs¹Ó­¹«Í°­) : A hateful, corpse-eating spirit. In theWorld of Darkness, a ghoul is a living human who has drunk the blood of a vampire, thus no longer aging. Giovanni: A clan of vampires who practice the manipulation of wraiths. 
Inconnu: A group of extraordinarily powerful vampires who side neither with the Sabbat nor the Camarilla. 
Kindred (¦PÃþ): The term vampires use to referring themselves.
Kiss: The act of taking blood from a mortal.
Lasombra: A Sabbat clan of power-brokering vampires.  Preferring to work from the shadows, their powers emphasize the manipulation of darkness. 
Lupine (¯Tªº): A werewolf, one of several magical races that live alongside vampires and mortals. The Lupines as a rule hate vampires and destroy them at every opportunity.
Malkavians: A clan of insane vampires.  Part of the Camarilla.
Masquerade (¤Æ§©»R·|): The party that people disguised themselves as vampires, ghosts or monsters.
Methusela: An incredibly ancient vampire who has lived for more than a 1000 years; usually with  unbelievably power.
Mother in Darkness: A female who has helped a new vampire in his or her transformation into a vampire.
Noble: A powerful, nearly immortal creature of evil that has a much greater range of free will than does a blooded vampire, and is able to create new vampires. 
Nosferatu: A hideously ugly clan of vampires. 
Novice Vampire: A vampire that retains some humanity, and has not yet fed from a human.
Prince: The vampire (male or female) who has legal control of a city. Not necessarily the most powerful vampire of the city.
Ravenloft: A demi-plane that invites and then traps supremely evil creatures. A haven for the undead, many of the Lords of Ravenloft are vampires and other dark, powerful creatures. 
Ravnos: A clan of thieving vampire rabble.
Sabbat: A demon-worshiping sect of vampires included primarily of the Lasombra and Tzimisce clans.
Salubri: An extinct clan of vampire mystics and healers. They were exterminated by the Tremere
Sire: The individual who has converted a mortal to a vampire. Often a form of address.
Toreador: A clan or vampire artists and art critics.
Tremere: A tightly-knit clan of vampires who practice blood magic. 
Tzimisce: A repulsive clan of Carpathian vampires who are able to  deform their bodies in many ways. 
Ventrue: A clan of arrogant, pure-blooded vampires.
Vicissitude (ÅܤÆ): The Tzimisce clan's discipline that allows the practictioner to change their body in often grotesque ways. 
Werewolves (¯T¤H): Humans able to change their  form into wolves.
Wraith («ÕÆF): The spiritual essence of dead individuals. 
  
 
  
1. catalepsy: a disease which causes a person to become temporarily unconscious and his body rigid.
2.comatose: unconscious a medical use-- A person who is comatose is in a coma an informal use-- A person who is comatose in a deep sleep, usually because they are tired or have drunk too much alcoholic.  Grandpa lies comatose on the sofa. 
3.congenital:  a  medical use-- A congenital disease or medical condition is one that  a person has had from birth,  but is not inherited.  When John was 17, he died of congenital heart disease. 
4.contagious: A disease that is contagious can be caught by touching people or  things that infected with  it. 
5.hemoglobin: haemoglobin.  Haemoglobin is the red substance in blood, which combines with  oxygen and carries it around the body. 
6.intrinsic:  If something has intrinsic value or intrinsic interest, it is valuable or interesting because of its basic nature or character, and not because of its connection with other things.  Diamonds have little intrinsic value and their price depends almost entirely on their society. . 
7.pigment: A pigment is a substance that gives something a particular color.    The Romans used natural pigments on their fabrics and walls.
8.porphyria: is an illness which manifests itself in the paling of the skin; a red rash about the mouth and nose.
9.porphyry: a type of hard, red rock which contains red and white crystals.  It may be polished and made into ornaments. 
10.decapitate: if someone is decapitated, their heads are cut off. 
11.notorious: to be well-know for something bad or evil. 
12.impale: to pierce through with anything sharp in order to fix in a 
position as if by piercing or piercing through.
  
 
 Suicide
 
1. Anguish: is great mental suffering or physical pain; used in written English.
2. Tackle: If you tackle a difficult problem or task, you deal with it in a very determined of efficient way.
3. Disparity: If there is a disparity between two or more things, there is a noticeable difference between them.
4. Insomnia: Someone who suffers from insomnia finds it difficult to sleep.
5. Impotence: Impotence is a lack of power to influence people or events.
6. Menstrual: means relating to menstruation
7. Agitation: If someone is agitated, they are very worried or upset, and show this in their behavior, movements, or voice.
8. Hyperactive: Someone who is hyperactive is unable to relax, and is always in a state of great agitation or activity.
9. Lethargy: Lethargy is the condition or state of being lethargic. Lethargic means that you don't have much energy or enthusiasm.
10. Drug abuse: using the drug in a wrong way or for a bad purpose. 
11. Aboriginal: the aboriginal people or animals of a place are ones that have been there from the earliest known times.
12. Lethal: a substance that is lethal can kill people or animals.
13. Distress: distress is a state of extreme sorrow, suffering, or pain.
14. Contemplate or attempt suicide: have the thought of committing suicide.
15. Anthropology: the scientific study of people, society, and culture.
16. Teeter: Teeter is used in expressions such as teeter on the brink and teeter on the edge to emphasize that something seems to be in a very unstable situation or position. 
17. Ambivalent: Someone, who is ambivalent about something, they seem to be uncertain whether they really want it.
18. Alternative: If one thing is an alternative to another, the first can be used, or done instead of the second.
19.Sterilise: If You sterlize a thing or a place, you make it completely clean and free from germs.  If a person or an animal is sterilized, they have a medical operation that makes it  impossible for them to have or produce babies.
20.alien:  Alien is used to describe someone and something that belongs to a different country, race, or group.
21.Swings: Is something swings ot if you swing it, it moves repeatedly backwards and forwards or from side to side from a fixed  point.
22.alternated: When you alternate two things, you keep using one then the other.  When one thing alternates with another, the first regularly occurs after the other.
23.blubber: If someone blubbers, they cry noisily and in an unattractive way; an informal word.
24.rant: If say someone rants, you mean that they talk loudly or angrily, and exaggerate or say foolish things.
25.rave: If someone raves, they talk in an excited and uncontrolled way. 
26.clench: When you clench your fist or your fist clenches, you curl your fingers up tightly, usually because you are very angry.
27.snap: If something snaps or if you snap it, it breaks suddenly, usually with a sharp cracking noise.
28.slump: If something such as the value of something slumps, it falls suddenly and by a large amount.
29.retention: The retention of something is the keeping of it;a formal word.
30.erratic: Something that is erratic does not follow a regular pattern, but happens at unexpected times or moves along in an irregular way.
  
  
Stray Dogs
 
1. to roam----to wander with no very clear aim 
         Ex. David finally settled down after years of roaming.
       Ex. We should take care of teenagers who roam street at  
             midnight.
2. nuisance----a person or animal that annoys or cause trouble
       Ex. The noise of sawing is a nuisance.
3. pose a threat----threaten
       Ex. A psychopath poses a threat in our society.
4. to maim----to harm in a part of the body so that it cannot be used
       Ex. He is maimed by a car accident.
5. excrement----the solid waste passed from the body
       Ex. Cleaning the pet's excrement is the biggest problem of its  
              owner.
6. unsanitary----harmful to health
       Ex.It's unsanitary that you don't wash your hand before eating.
7. tick----small insect-like animals that bury themselves in the skin  
              of animals ans suck their blood
        Ex. If you don't wash your dog, it will host ticks.
8. be transmitted to----to pass or to send from one to another
        Ex. Fly can host germ, and they can be transmitted to people,  
              causing diseases.
9. mass extermination----to kill all the creatures in a place
        Ex. Mass extermination in Europe during World War II was a  
              terrible experience.
10.on a leash----tied a dog with a length of rope
         Ex. When I take a walk with my dog, I will let it on a leash.
11.spay----to remove the sex organs of female animals
12.neuter----to remove the sex organs of male animals
         Ex. People say that spayed or neutered dogs would be fatter,  
              what do you
13.syringe----a pipe used in medicine, into which liquid can be 
                    drawn and from which it can be pushed out in a  
                    particular direction
         Ex.  It's a terrible experience that a nurse bring the syringe to  
                you.
14. grim----cruel, hard or causing fear
         Ex. Final exam is a grim task of all students.
      
 
1. pound (n.)--a place where stray dogs or cats are taken and kept until they are claimed by someone
      Ex. Many pounds in Taiwan now are overcrowded. 
2. rehabilitate(v.)--to make something or someone become the same as he or it is before
       Ex. Considerable efforts have been made to rehabilitate patients  
             who have suffered in this way.
3. surge(n.)--a sudden large increase in something 
       Ex. Variousreasons caused the recent surge in inflation.
4.euthanasia(n.)--a practice of killing someone painlessly in order to stop their suffering when they are dying or have an incurable illness 
       Ex. Euthanasia is still illegal in most countries.
5. vet(n.)--in British English, a vet is someone who is qualified to treat the sick or injured animals; in American English, it means someone who has served in the army forces of their country
       Ex. When your pet is sick, you need to consult a vet. 
6. resent(v.)--to feel angry about something or someone 
       Ex. She resents her mother for being so tough on her.
7. to get st. off the ground(phr.)--to start something
       Ex. We have to get the project off the ground right now.
8. expertise(n.)--special skill or knowledge that is acquired by training, study or practice
       Ex. Most local authorities lack the expertise to deal with such a  
             problem.
9. premise(n.)--usually add “s" to mean the land where a building or  something occupies
       Ex. The school needs more premises to develop its campus

 
1. Immensely (adv) : =enormously ; you use immensely to emphasize the degree or extent of a quality, feeling, or process. 
    Ex. Wind surfing can be strenuous but immensely exciting…I 
          enjoyed this movie immensely. 
2. Conservationist (n) : A conservationist is a someone who cares greatly about the conservation of the environment and who works and campaigns for its protection. 
3. Jurisdiction (n) : Jurisdiction is the power that a court of law or an official has to carry out legal judgements or to enforce laws. The British police have no jurisdiction over foreign bank accounts. 
4. Flaw (n) : =imperfection; A flaw in something such as a pattern or material is a fault in it that should not be there.  Almost all of these studies have serious flaws.
5. Competent (adj) : Someone who is competent is efficient and effective.  He was a loyal, distinguished and very competent civil servant. 
6. Deficiency (n) : A deficiency that someone or something has is a weakness or imperfection in them.  The most serious deficiency in their marriage is the lack of communication. 
7. Conjunction (n) : If one thing is done or used in conjunction with another, the two things are done or used together.  Since iron destroys vitamin E, these two nutrients should not be taken in conjunction. 
8. Undertake (v) : If you undertake to do something, you promise that you will do it.  He undertook to finish the assignments himself.
 

 
Paralytic----describe that a person can't move his/her body or a certain part of his/her body.  He crouched his paralytic legs on the chair, waiting for someone to help him standing up.
Wire----a ling thin piece of metal like strong string that is used for fastening things or in fences, cages, etc. 
He tied a basket to the bicycle with a piece of wire. 
Entanglements----iron string
Lucky wants to get out of the cage of entanglements for a very long time.
Urine----the yellow liquid that is passed from your body when you go to the toilet.
The owner of the pets should make them pass
out the urine outdoors
Ubiquitous----describe that something that exists everywhere. 
We can always see ubiquitous trash in the park.
Round up----to gather sb/sth in one place. 
The teacher rounded up the children. 
Outnumber----(often passive) to be greater in number than sb/sth. 
The enemy troops outnumbered us by three to one. 
Scenario----(from Italian) script, also means something that is unreal. 
Many of the people hope that the scenario of "You've got mail" can become a real story in their life. 
Neuter----to remove the sexual parts of an animal. 
It can solve lots of problems if the pets are neutered.
