For Composition, you are required to hand in
1. 
 
 

 

ONE 5-8 page report with 3 drafts plus a formal outline and works cited to be handed in together with the drafts, revised. (Students are expected to include at least five sources in English from two different kinds of publications, e.g. books or periodicals.)  Please explore the Writing & Research Site to see if you can get anything related to your report there. 
2. 

 

TWO 2-3 page compositions (each with 2 drafts) dealing with  
-- definition, classification, and analysis  
-- cause & effect
3. 
 

 

 

Keep 5 writing journals (15 A4 size page, single-spaced min.) to 1) reflect on your progress/improvements in writing and speaking and 2) share ideas with the teacher/classmates 3) address to classmates you are not familiar with.  Please feel free to write anything you would like to share in your journals.  You may also set a goal to improve your English like what you did last semester with your e-mail pals/tutors.  Extra reflections and comments are always welcomed.

Actively participate in issues presented by our classmates on the web. The in-class discussions may be carried on via our web class.  The most active students shall be awarded at the end of the semester.

Since we are privileged to have access to the on line resources, please explore the  Writing & Research Site as often as possible and recommend useful sites to our classmates and visitors to our web site.   Also, you may leave your messages on our chat room or discussion boards or e-mail Doris and share with her the excitement, sorrows and concerns you may have.  We can still share our discoveries on the net in class.

Since we are using the web class, try to save your files in an organized way and give them to the teacher via the web class, e-mail, or disks. 
For Conversation, you are expected to give

THREE composition presentations  
-- present your definition composition  
-- present your cause & effect composition  
-- present your report plan
2. 
 
ONE 10 min. presentation of your report in other teacher's class and 5 min.  
evaluation of another student's report on the day his/her report is presented.

ONE group 25-30 min. TV program showing your mastery of oral English.  This is considered as the mid-term, and your program shall be designed by you into files to be put on the web after the mid-term.

ONE Issue Report of your own choice to be posted on line, please hand in your issue disks one week after your in-class report.
5.  ONE oral presentation on your favorite song(s), disk due one week after. 
6.  ONE oral presentation on your favorite movie(s), disk due one week after.
7. ONE oral presentation on your favorite web site(s), disk due one week later.

Actively prepare and participate in class and web discussions of issues our classmates choose to develop your critical and analytical thinking as well as accurate, fluent English.
